In the mountainous surrounds of Hong Kong, road tunnels provide vital commuter links. Each day, more than 90,000 vehicles can pass through the Serco-operated Lion Rock Tunnel
In such a busy system, the safe, smooth-running of the tunnel is down to co-operation and trust

Hassockfield Secure Training Centre - Case Study

Secure training centres (STCs) house some of the most difficult and vulnerable young people in the youth justice system. To ensure these children’s needs are met, staff must be determined, committed and passionate about their work.

At Hassockfield STC, we’re encouraging employees to develop beyond their initial training programme by creating a learning culture throughout the establishment. Staff at the centre are undertaking a range of professional qualifications, from NVQs in custodial care to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in social work and criminology. We’re also the first STC in the country to pilot the NVQ in youth justice services.

Hassockfield STC has recently won Investors in People accreditation at its first attempt. By developing motivated and informed staff, we’re building a stable environment and providing the kind of consistent care the young people under our protection rely on.
