CERN Industrial Support
Serco has an Industrial Support contract with the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN), which is one of the world's largest particle physics research centres.
For the operation of the particle accelerator contract Serco is in collaboration with two French companies: Gerard Perrier Industrie SA and GTMH SA. Between them we currently share the 130 employees on this contract. The number of employees is likely to increase to 200 over the life of the contract.
The contract requires the Serco led grouping to take full responsibility for elements of the technical work required to ensure the successful operation of the equipment making up the accelerator and experimental areas. The contract also requires support to CERN for its operational programmes as well as the maintenance activities associated with the annual 3 to 4 months shutdown.
The object of the contract is to provide a responsive flexible and speedy service to project and support activities within CERN. Tasks covered under the contract are varied and often critical to the accelerator operations. They require employees from a number of different technical disciplines such as:
- Cryogenic Technicians/Engineers
- Electrical Technicians/Engineers
- Mechanical Technicians/Engineers
- Electronic Technicians/Engineers
- Designers/Draughtsmen
