Serco Institute

offering thought leadership in the development of sustainable public service markets

About the Institute

The Serco Institute was founded in 1994 to inform long-term strategic planning within Serco through the study of market competition, contracting and service delivery.

Since 2003, the Institute has pursued an outward-facing programme of research and communication, carving a niche as the only UK think tank dedicated exclusively to the study of competition and contracting in public services.

Through our links to Serco Group we are uniquely positioned to undertake both primary and secondary research into the tools of competition and contracting, and the development of sustainable public service markets. Our approach is pragmatic, drawing upon Serco's broad experience to deliver practical insights for stakeholders across the public, private and voluntary sectors.

We freely publish our findings to contribute to the international debate on public service reform. As part of our contribution to this debate, the Institute also frequently engages with international public officials, academics and industry experts, and participates in conferences and seminars around the world.

In addition to regular Publications from our own research we maintain and continue to build the Serco Institute Resource Centre, an online library created as a first point of reference for stakeholders in this area.
