The Serco Institute is the only UK think tank concerned exclusively with the study of competition and contracting in public services. As the research facility for Serco Group Plc, an international service company with extensive experience across a wide range of market sectors, the Institute is uniquely positioned to undertake both primary and secondary research into the tools of competition and contracting, and the development of sustainable public service markets. Our approach is pragmatic, drawing upon Serco’s broad experience, as well as other sources, to deliver practical insights for stakeholders across the public, private and voluntary sectors, and the policy and research communities. We freely publish our findings in order to raise the quality of debate and to enhance understanding, in governments and the wider community, of the role that competition and contracting can play in improving public services. As part of our contribution to this debate, the Institute also frequently engages with international public officials, academics and industry experts, and participates in conferences and seminars around the world. In addition to regular Publications from our own research, we maintain and continue to build the Serco Institute Resource Centre, a substantial online library dedicated to the discussion and study of public services reform.
