Emergency Services

In most parts of the world, fire and emergency services were originally built by private initiative, mostly by not-for-profit organisations and mutual societies such as insurance firms. In most parts of the world, emergency services continue to be provided by the public sector, but there are a number of notable exceptions, and in a number of countries, ambulance services are increasingly being contracted to private companies.
