Science management is a developing field of private provision. In the UK, Serco manages the National Physical Laboratory on behalf of the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Atomic Weapons Establishment in a joint venture with Lockheed Martin and BNFL. Private companies such as Control Risks also provide forensic science services to policing authorities.
