Concept of Operations
EDRM implementation involves considerably more than simply installing software. It results in changes to the way people work and it requires issues to be addressed that do not arise in paper-based systems. Amongst many others, these include formulating the rules surrounding metadata; who will have access to what metadata? How will metadata values be maintained? Who will decide what values are acceptable?
Selecting EDRM requires fundamental decisions to be taken on the nature of the desired implementation. Issues such as the accessibility of the system within the organisation, and the role of scanning will need to be addressed.
In response to these needs Serco Consulting has developed a methodology to develop a “Concept of Operations” report. Our clients have found that a Concept of Operations study has, for a small investment, resolved many of the uncertainties which can cause problems in later specification and implementation activities.
