Marine Services

Serco has been providing marine services to the Royal Navy for over ten years. Serco Denholm, a joint venture with the Denholm Group, is responsible for supporting the fleet and enabling the Royal Navy to put to sea at the UK's three main naval bases at Portsmouth, Devonport and Faslane.

The service we provide enables HM Ships, including the Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, to move in and out of port for operational deployment and training exercises. We operate tugs and pilot boats, provide stores, liquid and munitions transportation and provide passenger transfer services to and from ships for officers and crew.

In December 2007, Serco began a flagship £1bn PFI to provide marine services to the Royal Navy for the next 15 years. This contract includes the manning, operation and maintenance of over one hundred vessels and the introduction of around thirty new ones.

Operating to the highest safety and environmental standards

Over the past ten years Serco Denholm has developed an integrated health, safety and environmental policy, an initiative that has led to numerous RoSPA Gold Medal awards for continuous improvement in health and safety.
