Training military aircrew for operational deployment
The Medium Support Helicopter Aircrew Training Facility (MSHATF) is the UK Joint Helicopter Command’s state-of the-art synthetic training facility. Here, Serco’s experienced team of ex-military qualified flying instructors provide world-class flying training to Chinook, Merlin and Puma crews. Using cutting edge and fully networked mission simulators and computer-based training classrooms, we deliver the full range of ground and air training from initial type conversion training through to front line combat ready status.
Full mission rehearsal has been successfully delivered in support of recent operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Using the Tactical Control Centre as the command and control hub, multi-aircraft missions in full ground and air threat environments can be planned and executed with full monitoring and debrief facilities. Our service meets the training needs of the MOD through the continual development of courses and curricula to reflect the operational priorities of the Joint Helicopter Command.
