ICT
Central to the Government’s plans for BSF is the provision for an integrated ICT solution to support teaching and learning. This significant investment will act as an enabler to raise standards and address teacher workloads.
By making effective use of ICT, it is possible to create a step-change in the educational outcomes of learners. This is only feasible if ICT is integral to the education vision for the school of the future and it is important to understand the impact of ICT. By making ICT integral to everything that happens in the schools of the future it can:
- Enable and support the remodelled school workforce
- Enable and streamline knowledge management within schools and between schools
- Enable and enhance Interaction with parents and the local community
- Extend teaching and learning opportunities; for instance by Allowing learning to take place ‘anytime-anywhere’ but particularly e-learning beyond traditional school hours and premises.
Serco has unparalleled understanding of designing, delivering and supporting robust, scaleable and future proof ICT solutions to meet the needs of the wide variety of stakeholders involved in a school of the future. The implementation of an ICT strategy and solution for a school starts with the introduction of a stakeholder board and the commencement of the change management plan. This approach ensures that the solution:
- Meets the needs of the leaders, teachers, and learners in each school
- Address the specialism of a school and the associated ICT requirements
- Reduces the risk of legacy system and hardware integration
- Is supported by a comprehensive training plan to ensure ICT is an enabler rather than a hindrance, and the users become e-confident.
