Cornwall out of hours GP care
In Cornwall Serco provides out of hours family doctor services for more than 300,000 people, under the banner Kernow Urgent Care Services.
Our team consists of more than 150 doctors, 30 nurses and around 150 support staff including drivers and receptionists.
During peak summer months we will handle up to 1,200 calls a night, see 130 patients in one of ten clinics around the county, and make more than 50 home visits.
We provide this NHS service to the Cornwall and Scilly Isles Primary Care Trust. The Trust recently commented: “We are delighted that Kernow Urgent Care Service continues to sustain significantly improved performance. We now believe that local people are receiving an out of hours service which is of a very high quality, often exceeding national performance targets”.
Our service operates from 6.30pm to 8.30am Mondays to Fridays and 24 hours a day at weekends and on Bank Holidays.
