John Smith, Accommodation Services and Change
Before joining Serco Home Affairs in December 2003, John spent over 20 years working for HM Prison Service.
He worked at both area and national levels within the Prison Service organisational structure with a career characterised by introducing change to deliver efficient and effective services for public protection at the best price and was described by Martin Narey, former head of the Prison Service, as a “visions and values governor"
As Governor at Liverpool he led the prison successfully through performance testing and at Manchester led the in-house team in successfully retaining the prison within the public sector.
John gained membership of the Institute of Personnel Development (formerly IPM) in 1980 with a post graduate diploma in Industrial Relations and a Masters diploma (distinction) in Business Management.
