Hassockfield Secure Training Centre

Hassockfield in County Durham cares for up to 42 males and females aged between 12 and 17. They are either awaiting trial or serving sentences. They include some of the most damaged and difficult young people in the country. Our staff strive to care for them safely, securely and with dignity and respect. While in our care they are helped to address issues which may underlie their offending, such as alcohol or drug abuse. They are also offered education according to the National Curriculum.

The centre opened in 1998 and runs under a 15-year private finance initiative with the Youth Justice Board of England and Wales.

We aim to provide the best possible environment for our young people. Our services and facilities include:

  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Recreation
  • Religion
  • Resettlement
  • Community Links
  • Environmental Information
