Phil Edwards, Managing Director
Phil joined Serco at the end of 1988 after 24 years service as a mechanical engineer in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. In his early years with Serco, he was instrumental in developing Serco’s entry into both the Local Authority and Estates Management sectors.
In 1990 he went to Australia to assist in establishing Serco as a business in the region, returning late in 1991 to become general manager of the Company’s business with BAe.
During his 16 years with the Company, Phil has been the Managing Director of a number of Serco companies including Serco Defence (twice), Serco Resource Management and from June 1999 through to December 2002 was the CEO of Serco Group Inc., the Company’s interests in the US, Canada and Bermuda.
On returning from the US, he was appointed corporate Director Operations, responsible for business improvement throughout the group. Phil took up his appointment as Operations Director, Serco Home Affairs on 10th January 2005. He became managing director of the business in March 2007.
