Environment
Our staff generally work and live near our businesses and contracts. It's important to follow and share best practice in relation to both their working and living environments. We therefore need to consider:
- Impact assessment - understanding the potential environmental impact of the contract or business.
- Quality of the work environment - ensuring that the work environment is compliant with relevant legislation and is pleasant and sympathetic to the needs of the people who work in it
- Management systems - identifying and working towards good environmental management systems, in particular ISO14001
- Green initiatives - developing a green approach to the environment through initiatives such as recycling, reusing, redesigning, rethinking, returning or reducing energy use
- Local Community agenda - making connections with appropriate external bodies in order to align our approach to environmental issues with their commitments to the community and identifying how Serco could become involved in any environmental initiatives in local areas and communities
