Our broad spectrum of capability in developing business processes and organisational structures allows us to forge successful relationships with key partners and suppliers.

Serco collects around £1 billion a year in tolls, fares and information sales across road and rail transport networks throughout the world.

Our strength is our ability to programme manage and integrate a range of in-vehicle equipment, roadside technology and back office computer systems. We deliver and operate comprehensive road pricing solutions for:

  • Entering a city centre
  • Driving across bridges and through tunnels
  • Motorway pricing
  • Travelling throughout an entire network   

Tolling operations include manual and automatic tolling, and full responsibility for all accounting, secured banking and financial reporting. Our transport operations services around the world handle in excess of £1 billion a year in toll and information payments through cards, electronic toll collection, cash, internet, telephones interactive voice response and post.

Lion Rock and Airport, Hong Kong
Serco is contracted to manage, operate and maintain the Lion Rock and Airport tunnels in Hong Kong. With a throughput of approximately 160,000 vehicles per day, this is a service that Serco has successfully delivered since 1993. This contract includes operations, toll collection, control room, back office, maintenance and patrols.

London Congestion Charge
Serco provided Transport for London (TfL) with expert advice in relation to the capture and processing of images from Automatic Number Plate Recognition Systems associated with London’s congestion charging system. Serco’s role included reviewing the proposed system and recommending changes.
