Serco Assurance in technical support partnership with British Energy

Date : 06 May 2008

Serco Assurance has been announced as one of a team of partners who will provide engineering and technical support to British Energy's nuclear power stations. The strategic alliance is worth up to £20 million a year to the partners over the next five years.

This strategic alliance is the renewal of a previous arrangement, but for the first time includes Serco Assurance as one of the partners. Previous arrangements have delivered more than £80 million of work, providing British Energy with access to specialist third party technical capability.

Chris Theobald, Managing Director, Serco Assurance said:  "Serco Assurance brings a wide range of specialist technical, engineering and safety expertise to support the safe and efficient operation of BE nuclear power stations. In particular, we bring our experience of successfully supporting the Magnox reactor sites over a number of years and our structural integrity testing and analytical capabilities. We look forward to working with partners to ensure the UK continues to benefit from electricity generated by BE stations."

The other partners in the strategic alliance are AMEC, Atkins and Frazer-Nash Consultancy.
