Serco awarded a $24.5m logistics support contract to the U.S. Air Force

Date : 09 October 2009

Serco Inc., the US subsidiary of Serco Group, a provider of professional, technology, and management services to the federal government, announced today that the company has been awarded the Air Force Data Preparation for the Expeditionary Combat Support System (ECSS) Data Preparation task order under the Department of Defense Logistics, Maintenance, and Supply Support (LMSS) contract.  Serco will support the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command with data migration from legacy systems into an integrated environment.  The new task order has a six-month base period plus a one-year option and is valued at approximately $24.5m, inclusive of the option.

Serco will support the Air Force through two phases of data migration as they work towards business transformation and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation.  The first phase of migration will focus on moving legacy Air Force data into a centralized data repository and the second phase will consist of moving that data from the repository into the chosen Oracle Product Suite.  Serco's subject matter experts will utilize their experience in Air Force logistics, information technology and support tools to stand up and deliver a data preparation center.

"The Serco team is excited to have this opportunity to help the Air Force revolutionize its end-to-end supply chain business process through the successful implementation of ECSS," said Gary Zuber, Vice President of Air Force Logistics at Serco Inc.  "We look forward to applying our data analysis services and logistics expertise to improve the quality of Air Force data."

Serco has provided similar work for the 754th Electronic Systems Group Logistics Directorate.  The work under the current ECSS data preparation task order will be performed at a Serco facility in Fairborn, Ohio and Serco expects to hire up to 65 new employees to help successfully complete this task.
