Serco signs £44m contract to provide ICT services to Peterborough City Council

Serco Group plc (Serco), the international service company, announces that it has signed a contract with Peterborough City Council to fully manage all the Council's Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Services from now to 2020. Serco will advise and implement improvements that will streamline the way services are delivered to residents and use smart purchasing strategies to bring about real cash efficiencies for the Council. Serco will provide new ICT facilities as part of a modernisation programme that will continually improve Council services now and in the future.
Under the 11year, £44m contract, Serco's best practice approach will enable Peterborough Council to invest around £6 million in their ICT service, at no additional cost to the tax payer while delivering a better customer service and meeting it's medium term financial savings targets. This includes a guaranteed saving of 15% on the current costs of the Council's external suppliers This will be achieved by taking advantage of Serco's purchasing power, rationalising the numbers of suppliers and using sophisticated procurement techniques.
The modernisation programme will support Peterborough's ambition to introduce more effective flexible working for their staff, freeing up office space and contributing to the Council's wider Environment and Green Agendas.
