Serco's Education contract in Bradford celebrates being joint 7th most improved LA District at Key Stage 2

Date : 14 December 2010

The gap has been closed between the Bradford district and national performance at Key Stage 2, according to figures published today by the Department for Education.

The combined English and mathematics average for Bradford, where Serco delivers the education services in partnership with the Local Authority, is now 73% in the validated figures - the same as the national average.

This is an increase of 5% on the 2009 figure and a step change from 2005 when the Bradford combined figure was 62% and the national average 69%.

The district is celebrating record overall results which make it the 7th most improved in the country.

Denise Faulconbridge, Serco's Managing Director for Education Bradford, said: "In the last year of our contract, I am delighted we have honoured our commitment to close the gap at Key Stage 2 Level 4 and above. A lot of hard work has gone into achieving this momentous milestone. Congratulations should go to all those involved in bringing about such record overall validated results including school staff, pupils, governors and parents."
