Serco is honoured to be voted Britain's second most admired company
Date : 03 December 2010
Serco is honoured to have been voted Britain's second most admired company as well as once again been declared the Most Admired Support Services company in Management Today's Most Admired awards, the UK's leading business awards.
The awards, launched in 1992, are the only awards of their type in the UK. This year, Unilever was declared Britain's Most Admired Company and joins a long list of previous winners such as Tesco, BSkyB and GlaxoSmithKline.
The awards are researched annually by Professor Michael Brown at Birmingham University Business School. Britain's leading companies are judged by their peers, as well as analysts at leading investment companies.
In total 230 companies across 23 different industry sectors were rated across nine different categories including Quality of Management, Ability to Attract, Retain and Develop Talent, Value as a Long-term Investment, Quality of Goods and Services, Community and Environmental Responsibility and Financial Soundness.
This year's awards also saw new names rated with the inclusion of a handful of UK companies that are privately or otherwise alternatively owned.
Christopher Hyman, Chief Executive of Serco Group plc, said: "We are very honoured to receive these awards which are recognition of the incredible hard-work, commitment and abilities of the people across Serco who are dedicated to delivering high quality and efficient services to our customers around the world. These awards are especially humbling as this recognition comes from our peers in the many high quality companies in the UK."
