Premier Transmission

Date : 01 September 2005

Following a competitive tender process, Premier Transmission Limited (PTL) has renewed the existing contract with Serco Solutions until 2008. PTL is the owner and operator of the Scotland to Northern Ireland natural gas transmission pipeline, known as SNIP. Serco provides PTL with a resilient ICT infrastructure, to support the business critical application that gas shippers use to trade and ship gas. Continuous operation of the SNIP pipeline is of critical strategic importance to Northern Ireland and without the services Serco deliver, PTL couldn't run their business. The SNIP provides Northern Ireland with 70% of its energy requirements so this is a great example of where Serco are able to contribute towards the wellbeing and prosperity of a community of over 1.7million people.

We also delivered the communication links and supporting technology to move the PTL pipeline control room, from Warwick on the mainland, to Bord Gais Eireann in Cork, Republic of Ireland. All activities were completed to time, quality and budget. Serco was praised by Martyn Kenyon, IT Services for PTL, who said he was impressed by the technical expertise and skills displayed by all the Serco staff working on the project.
