Serco steps up to Galileo challenge with Eurely

Serco is delighted to announce that it has joined the Eurely Consortium, formed by Alcatel, AENA, Finmeccanica and Hispasat for the Galileo concession, the European satellite navigation system.
Serco, as one of the world’s largest service companies operating in a diverse range of sectors, strengthens the Eurely team through its wide ranging experience and capability in space and satellite operations across the UK and Europe, including the UK Skynet 5 programme and the European Space Agency (ESA) and expertise in the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) arena.
On Skynet 5, Serco provides key services critical to delivery of the satellite communications, including network and spacecraft operations, maintenance, infrastructure management, training, and logistics.
For the ESA, Serco provides services across Europe, including spacecraft control and analysis, project management, and technical and engineering support for computer systems and ground segment operations and maintenance.
Serco will also be able to assist Eurely to introduce the Galileo location positioning applications and services across the company’s extensive public transport and traffic management markets.
