NDT Development Engineer
Location: Risley, Warrington, Cheshire

The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced NDT engineer to undertake a wide range of NDT development and Inspection Qualification activities. Our customers for this work come from government and private industry, many of which are associated with the nuclear industry. As a company we are involved in a number of international and UK research projects giving you excellent opportunities to work at the forefront of your discipline. You will also play a role in maintaining close links with universities to ensure that our scientific base is up to date.
As part of a group of experienced scientists and engineers you could be contributing as part of a project team but also could act as the main technical contributor and driver for some projects. You should be good at analysing problems and developing and implementing solutions. There will be opportunities to liaise with leading experts in industry and universities and you will be encouraged to publish the results of your work in technical journals and to attend and present papers at conferences.

Responsibilities
- Managing and/or contributing to projects involving the experimental and theoretical assessment of inspection techniques, inspection design and procedure development
- Analysing clients problems, developing and implementing solutions by developing new inspection techniques for specialist applications
- Witnessing and auditing inspections at client sites
- Occasional visits to and implementation of inspections at client sites
- The production of high quality technical reports on the outcome of your work
- Delivering your work to agreed timescales and cost
- Interfacing with customers throughout the lifecycle of projects including the presentation of results
- Reporting on the outcome of your work at conferences/seminars, as appropriate
- Identifying new business opportunities
- Leading/assisting with the production of contract proposals and bids
- Assisting in maintaining the technical capability/knowledge of the team
- Representing the Department in technical meetings with clients and third parties
Requirements - Education and Experience
The following are considered essential:
- Educated to degree level in physics or engineering or mathematics
- Several years experience in NDT in either a research or industrial environment
- Full, clean UK Drivers Licence
The following would be a significant advantage:
- Experience of managing projects from inception to conclusion
- Experience of direct client interaction
- Experience of contract bid preparation
Security clearance to work on defence related projects will need to be gained.

Remuneration
A competitive salary (upto £45k) and remuneration package will be agreed depending on qualifications and experience.
