Department: Safety & Performance, Defence Nuclear Business Group
Salary: £25k to £45k depending on experience and qualifications
The Role
The Safety and Performance area supports a number of clients concerned with naval nuclear propulsion and with civil nuclear power. These include the Ministry of Defence, Rolls-Royce, British Energy and the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate. Our work is split approximately equally into two main activities. As a consultant, you will work within a section of thermal hydrualics engineers, mainly involved with the independent safety assessment of nuclear safety cases, concentrating on the thermal hydraulics aspects. You may also work on producing safety cases. You will become responsible for particular project areas, managing all thermal hydraulics aspects of the safety case and representing Serco at client meetings. An experienced consultant will be expected to provide expert safety advice to clients, both in the management of safety and in their specialist area.
Safety and Performance is a large department of experienced scientists and engineers working on a diverse range of projects for a broad portfolio of customers.
