Senior Waste Management Consultant
Location: Harwell, Oxfordshire

The Role
Technical and Assurance Services is a leading provider of environmental and waste management consultancy services to the UK nuclear industry. We are further developing and broadening this business, and wish to recruit a suitably qualified graduate or post-graduate to join our environmental assessments team at Harwell.
The vacancy provides an excellent opportunity for those wishing to develop a career in this technically, and commercially, challenging business. Candidates will be expected, from the outset, to make an important technical contribution to projects undertaken on behalf of our customers. There will be opportunities for career development in a technical role, in project management and in business development.
The successful candidates should have experience in the radioactive waste management field, and be able project managers. They will be required to liaise directly with clients and, from time to time, to undertake work at clients' premises. They will also be expected to undertake business development activities. This will involve travel to sites in the UK and possibly abroad.

Responsibilities
- The provision of technical consultancy, including project management, and possibly the management of junior staff, subcontractors, and technical review
- Production of high quality technical reports on the outcome of your work
- Responsibility for the presentation of results to customers
- Delivering your work to agreed timescales and cost
- Preparation of high quality proposals built upon an in-depth understanding of customers problems and of our capacity to solve them
- Involvement in the development of new business
Requirements - Education and Experience
- The successful candidates will probably have a very good first degree in a physical science or related numerate discipline and may well have a post-graduate qualification in an appropriate discipline
- They will have demonstrable experience, over a number of years, in project management and in working on waste management issues in the nuclear industry. This experience will be in one or more of the following areas:
- Waste management
- Waste treatment processes
- Inventory studies
- Packaging assessments
- Decommissioning studies
- Numerate and able to use a range of software packages
- Experience of customer interactions
- Experience in proposal preparation
- Full, clean UK Drivers Licence
- Security clearance will be required

Remuneration
A competitive salary (in the range £25k to £40k) and remuneration package will be agreed depending on qualifications and experience.
