Class 465 Corrosion Repair and Delivery
Body side corrosion, particularly in doorway tread plate areas and at window apertures was identified by our client as a serious emerging problem. Failure to address it would no doubt have shortened the vehicles operating life resulting in operational and asset value shortfalls.
Following a fleet survey a process to removing the corrosion and fit anti-graffiti vinyl rather than repaint was successfully trialed on a prototype 4 car unit. Serco was then commissioned to roll out the project to the whole fleet of 97 4 car units.
The project has been successfully completed on time, within budget and to our client's high quality standard. Additionally, such is the confidence we have in the work carried out that we have guaranteed the anti-graffiti vinyl for 6 years.
