Component Testing and Rig Design
Our Materials and Component Research Laboratories take pride in designing and carrying out tests that closely represent plant conditions. This has been a dominate theme in our business for more than fifty years starting with full size fracture tests on nuclear pressure vessels. This expertise has developed and grown since those early days and today we offer rig design and component testing services giving bespoke solutions for component qualification and structural integrity assessment or code validation. Our facilities and some of our recent experience include:
- Mechanical loading systems from a few newtons up to 7MN.
- Fatigue, fracture and sustained loading
- Single and multiphase loop operation of full size reactor boiler components investigating corrosion and thermal hydraulic performance
- Design, construction and operation of mechanical test facilities in high temperature and high pressure water environments
- Design, construction and operation of testing facilities for low level radioactive materials and components
- Structural features test on pressure vessel plates
- Qualification tests of aircraft landing gear bearings
