Site Characterisation
In the field of contaminated land characterisation we undertake initial desk studies leading to the identification of potential problems;
- design of groundwater and rock/soil sampling programmes;
- design of hydrogeological testing programmes;
- measurement of hydrogeological properties and groundwater chemistry,
- detailed site characterisation addressing potential contaminants, site geology and hydrogeology, and any possible gas or vapour generation issues; and
- site remediation validation surveys.
We also undertake hydrogeological and geochemical modelling, in order to:
- estimate the rate of contaminant migration;
- predict the future extent and nature of the contaminant plume;
- provide the 'source terms' to underpin contaminant migration and risk assessment calculations;
- optimise clean up and liquid effluent treatment processes, and therefore
- optimise containment and remediation strategies
We use the information generated by these activities to support risk assessments
We provide consultancy services to support the development of contaminated land policy and guidance on behalf of Government and regulators.
