The Web is an exacting and exasperating medium in which to work. You get more direct contact with the consumer than has ever been possible in any previous medium. Yet it is fiendishly hard to collect and interpret the messages the consumer is sending. Serco was an immense help to BBC News in making sense of the consumer feedback.
