Andrew Swartz spoke at the quarterly meeting of the Intranet Benchmarking Forum which took place on 26th May 2005. The topic was 'Usability for a Captive Audience', during which Andrew talked about the top ten factors that most often affect the usability of real-world intranets. These differ from theoretical concerns, and include items such as making sure there is a good system for reminding users of their passwords to suggestions for allowing users to contribute to individual pages. The Intranet Benchmarking Forum is an exclusive, confidential and portal benchmarking group comprising currently 28 leading UK and global organisations (typically FTSE 100). Founded in 2002, it is the leading intranet benchmarking group globally and is acknowledged to have established the industry standards for intranet and portal performance.
