Our people 2019
In a unified showing of support for our diverse workforce, we took part in the 2019 Washington DC Capital Pride Festival. The event was hosted by the Capital Pride Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the LGBTQ+ community and its partners through educational events, entertainment, community outreach and celebrations of diversity. At the event, our team offered career information along with free polaroid photos in the Serco photo booth and promotional gifts. Dave Dacquino, Chief Executive for Serco Americas, was in attendance, engaging with the crowd and making time to talk with potential candidates about Serco’s culture and career opportunities.
“At Serco, we believe diversity is about building a team with diverse backgrounds, perspectives and skillsets to create a culture where we learn from each other and enhance our capabilities through different ways of thinking. We had some really good conversations with attendees at the Washington D.C. Capital Pride Festival, and I have high hopes that we will be onboarding some of them as new employees in the near future,” said Dave Dacquino.
Meanwhile, in the UK…
After the success of our 2018 participation in the London and Manchester Pride Parades, we returned to both with much greater presence, including more of our LGBT+ colleagues and their allies, plus a Serco branded truck and DJ.
It is an important opportunity for us to send a strong message to our employees, customers, service users and the wider public that we take diversity and inclusion seriously.
Anthony Kirby, Group HR Director, said: “I was very proud to join our In@Serco colleagues and their families at this great event, along with Kevin Craven and Rupert Soames. Pride is about celebrating our LGBT+ communities and raising awareness of the issues that some people still face. I am proud to see our progress in Serco and the work we are doing to help us understand how we can be even better in the years ahead.”
