Celebrating our female Emirati staff and creating more opportunities for their employment and development

We employ more than 200 UAE nationals across the Dubai Metro, of which 47% are female, working across a range of departments and covering 20 different roles. In 2019, Serco Middle East hosted an event for our female Emirati employees to mark Emirati Women’s Day. The gathering showcased their achievements and contributing to celebrations taking place throughout the UAE.

In a speech honouring their work and contributions, Rebecca Jeffs, HR Director for Serco Middle East said: “We have always encouraged the hiring of Emirati females and we have never failed to appreciate the consistent enthusiasm demonstrated by all throughout their employment. We fully believe in giving women fair and equal opportunities as they seek to fulfil their professional ambitions and we look forward to welcoming many more to the Serco family in the coming years.”

As part of our commitment to offer additional support to our female staff, we have developed our Muwazana programme, which offers part-time employment for UAE nationals who are looking to balance work, studies and family commitments whilst contributing to the business and enhancing their professional development.

“Hiring Emirati women is just the first step,” said Rebecca Jeffs. “We develop our personnel so they can realise their full potential and have a big impact within the industry. Our programmes allow us to support both Emiratization and local women by introducing flexible timings and customised training. We are constantly reviewing and enhancing our approach to ensure seamless integration of Emirati women into our workforce.”
