Challenging ourselves to accomplish the extraordinary in support of charitable causes and a culture of health and wellbeing

Every year, Serco employees across North America give their support to a multitude of different local and regional charitable causes, supported by their colleagues, managers and the business itself. Of all the various forms of charitable giving in which we engage, the spirit of Serco Americas is perhaps best reflected in those teams of employees who challenge themselves to accomplish extraordinary physical goals to raise funds for causes close to the heart of the business. Not only do their endeavours visibly demonstrate our value of ‘care’, they also contribute to the pride of the organisation whilst helping to promote a culture of health and wellbeing. For example:

  • In August 2018, a team of Serco managers and support staff participated in the Big Bike Ride through downtown Toronto, raising $1,815 to help fund life-saving research by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
  • In October, Serco Americas chose to focus charitable giving on Hope for the Warriors, a non-profit organisation that aims to provide comprehensive support programmes for US service members, veterans and military families. The Division organised a team of employees to participate in the annual Marine Corps Marathon, held in Washington DC. An internal fundraising campaign achieved over $14,000 in donations towards the Hope for the Warriors’ target of $25,000.
  • In November, another team took part in the American Heart Association 5k walk in Washington DC, in honour of a colleague who passed away in August, raising approximately $4,000.
