Contributing to a national study aiming to reduce healthcare associated infections

Fiona Stanley Hospital, Australia, has contributed to ‘Researching Effective Approaches to Cleaning in Hospitals’, a national study aiming to reduce healthcare associated infections (HAIs) through enhanced cleaning practices. Participating hospitals have contributed evidence about effective hospital cleaning through a rigorous and innovative trial.

“HAIs are a major cause of avoidable costs, morbidity and deaths among hospital patients,” said Kristie Popkiss, Serco Infection Prevention and Clinical Operations Manager. “Any improvement we can make in reducing harm or potential harm to patients is critical. Our participation demonstrates our commitment to quality improvement and research activities that provide potential benefits for patients, families and the wider hospital community.”
