Our people 2019
At the heart of delivering our services in North America are our Program Managers (who manage and lead our North American contracts for our customers). These individuals lead our people, interface with our customers and ultimately ensure we deliver the very best services to our citizens. In recent years, we have increased our focus on supporting and developing this group, including various initiatives for training and professional development.
For example, our ‘Program Manager PLUS’ Bootcamp is a week-long intensive technical training programme designed for current or potential Program Managers, centred around the contract management lifecycle. The PM PLUS Boot Camp provides the foundation of knowledge to manage our operations and master key competencies. Participants gain insight and a greater understanding of all aspects of contract management, including Proposal Writing, Contracts, Finance, Serco Management System, Pricing, Risk, Recruiting, Employee Engagement, Legal, Innovation and more. The content of the programme was developed in response to feedback from Program Manager focus groups, and the individual components are designed and delivered by seasoned Serco subject matter experts, including members of the Executive Management Team.
In addition to equipping our Program Managers with essential knowledge and resources, the PM PLUS Boot Camp provides them with a strong support network of peers. Since its launch in 2018, the programme has successfully trained 80 participants, of whom 52% have been female.
