Our world 2017
In the Million Trees programme, which launched in June, prisoners in Auckland, New Zealand, will propagate and cultivate native tree and plant seedlings for the project, while offenders being managed in the community will do the planting. We have committed to propagating 250,000 seedlings in the first two years of the programme.
Mike Inglis, Contract Director for Auckland South Corrections Facility, said: “Horticulture is important to us, with prisoners gaining New Zealand Qualifications Authority credits and valuable experience. Planting native trees in the area also promotes our values of sustainability and giving back to the community we operate in.”
