Prioritising recruitment from the local community for facilities management at the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary

At the new NHS Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, which began receiving patients in December, our work includes delivering vital services such as maintaining the hospital’s plumbing, heating, lighting, electrics and fire safety systems, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment and supporting the wellbeing of patients, visitors and staff.

Prior to commencing the contract we engaged with Dumfries and Galloway Employment Total Access Point (DGTAP) as our local employment partner to ensure as many people as possible from the local community could benefit from the employment opportunities available, including those who have previously been long-term unemployed. The positions recruited for included technicians and senior technicians, craft roles and a service coordinator.
