Our world 2018
Our team at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) are committed to making a positive difference to the communities in which they live and work – sharing expertise, skills and resources with local non-profit organisations across the Perth metropolitan area. We have operated non-clinical services for the hospital as of 2011, and since that time we have focused on enabling our people to contribute to the local causes they are passionate about.
In 2018, the Serco FSH team took part in nearly 1,000 hours of volunteering, for organisations such as the Cancer Council WA, Ronald McDonald House, the RSPCA Western Australia, Keep Australia Beautiful, OzHarvest and Homelessness: We Care, Perth.
Over 150 employees from over 15 different service lines across FSH volunteered to support these organisations in a multitude of ways. Team members prepared meals for rural cancer patients and seriously ill children; took part in litter clean-ups in our local suburbs; helped prepare meals and sort donations for animals in RSPCA care; and raised funds, collected food and prepared a Christmas dinner for Perth’s homeless community.
Through our community sponsorship program, we donated more than $20,000 to non-profit organisations supporting health and wellbeing in Perth’s South Metropolitan suburbs. From healthy cooking classes to local sports groups, Serco FSH has enabled these organisations to purchase desperately needed equipment in order to continue their work.
Volunteering Western Australia calculate that the Serco team have contributed $80,000 worth of indirect support to the charities and more than $50,000 in direct support.
