Our people 2019
In 2019, we celebrated ten years of operating the Dubai Metro, we launched a new career development programme for our Metro employees, Track to Success.
The Track to Success programme is a fresh, new approach to engaging our people in personal dialogue about taking meaningful ownership of their career progression whilst reinforcing that Serco is a supportive and experience-rich environment in which to grow.
“We take colleague development very seriously and their views are important to us,” explains Jo Flint, HR Business Partner for Transport in Serco Middle East and creator of the programme. “Responding to feedback for more accessible career progression, we launched Track to Success to equip them with valuable tools and tactics for when they are planning career growth.”
“Track to Success is an informal, optional workshop for 15-20 colleagues at a time on a monthly basis. It’s hosted by members of our executive and management teams, who meet with attendees to share personal experiences of career development. We discuss useful tips, like networking, building personal brand and creating development plans, and we share career ‘success stories’ from other colleagues.”
“The key message is that, whilst everyone has the accountability and autonomy to drive their own career, as a leaders and managers we are here to support them and want to invest our time helping them to pursue and achieve their career ambitions within Serco.”
Jerry Daniel Matthew, Track Project Team Leader at the Dubai Metro, said: “Track to Success showed me the path to take, it was perfect guidance for my career development. I had specific ambitions but didn't know where to start. Track to Success helped me take the first step.”
“The aim of Track to Success is to support our people in taking control of their own career development,” says Alex Rentier, Managing Director, Dubai Metro & Tram for Serco Middle East. “The initial responses are positive, and I am looking forward to seeing more of the results!”
