Annie Reidy, Operations Manager

Annie is one of our Graduate Program Managers in our 2020-21 program, who joined the Serco team in 2012.

Why do you choose to work at Serco?

Initially, a friend working at one of Serco’s contact centres who spoke highly of their own experience encouraged me to apply. Among other things, the people I work with, the work we do, the development provided and the values that are real and lived by are the four factors that give me a workplace that’s not only enjoyable and rewarding, but one that I am passionate about.

What’s the focus of your role? What’s your purpose, what motivates you?

The primary focus of my role is the wider teams’ performance, ensuring we are achieving the correct outcomes and meeting our business goals in delivering appropriate service to our client and the community, while balancing the many and varied factors of how individuals contribute personally to a high performing team. Personally, understanding what drives engagement for each team member and how we might support them in feeling they’re achieving and they’re happy is important to me. I am motivated by the difference we can make, no matter how big or small.

How have you developed at Serco? What opportunities have you had?

I’ve had exceptional leaders at Serco who have invested time in my development and career goals. I’ve been lucky enough to have the opportunity to participate in numerous leadership initiatives and programs and growth through responsibilities which have increased my skill and capability.

In what ways do you consider your work to be meaningful and making a difference?

The work we do allows us to engage with some of the most vulnerable members of the community. We have the ability to put minds at ease, provide solutions and assistance or purely just be a friendly voice, all of which can go a long way to making a difference.

As a graduate Placement Manager, what do you think Serco offers graduates?

Serco offers graduates a fast-tracked induction into the world of business, leadership, operational delivery and stakeholder management in a supportive and encouraging environment. As a Placement Manager, I thoroughly enjoy providing guidance and whilst giving them with the freedom to apply their own abilities and knowledge. This allows our graduates to develop into authentic leaders and identify their current and emerging strengths in addition to learning and developing various skills which are critical within an organisation.
