Australian Flood Emergency

Information for employees impacted by floods in QLD and NSW

3 March 2022

Dear colleagues

If you have been impacted by the recent flood crisis in Queensland and New South Wales, there is a range of assistance available from Serco to you and your family.

It is important that you notify your Line Manager if you have been directly impacted by the floods or are in flood affected area, so we can stay in contact with you and know that you are safe. If you haven’t already done so, please contact them today. This includes our casual employees.

Leave

Should you be unable to attend work due to the floods, Special Paid Leave is available to you for any rostered shifts you have missed. Please talk to your Line Manager or P&C representative about how to access this.

Financial support

If you suffer financial hardship due to the crisis, whether it be loss of property, significant damage, temporary accommodation or other support, we are in the process of establishing a Serco Emergency Fund of $100,000 to provide financial support. The details on eligibility and how this can be accessed will be shared with you next week.

Emergency service volunteer leave

If you are volunteering in your community as part of an Emergency Services response, for example through the SES, please let your Line Manager know. We have doubled our Emergency Services Leave provisions to up to 10 days so that you can help to care for your community.

Counselling

Significant events like this affect people in different ways. If you need counselling support or guidance, please reach out to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider, Converge, by calling 1300 687 327. This service is also available to your immediate family members.

You can also access the service online at www.convergeinternational.com.au (username: serco / password: eap)

Our thoughts are with you and if there are other ways in which Serco can do to help you at this point in time please let us know via your Line Manager or P&C representative.

Take care,

Peter Welling
