What do you need to be a Reintegration Officer?

A Reintegration Officer (sometimes known as a Corrections Officer) is responsible for the management, supervision, care, rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners every day.
Reintegration Officers actively participate in the rehabilitation of prisoners whilst monitoring and maintaining the security of the facility. We look for the following skills and qualities in potential employees:
- Commitment to safety and security
- Commitment to the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and display maturity in your approach
- Empathy
- Integrity
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Good level of fitness
You will need a full, clean driver licence that permits you to drive vehicles in New Zealand. Please note that a criminal conviction may prevent you from being employed in a prisoner facing role such as a Reintegration Officer.
