Our ambitions for the future

It is important for me to ensure we set ourselves some clear, open and transparent ambitions which support the delivery of our five-year people strategy, and that we share them with our colleagues and other stakeholders.

It is my intention that from 2020 onwards, we will report our activities and performance against these ambitions in our annual people report.

Safety and wellness

I pledge that Serco will aim to:

  • Reduce our Lost Time Incident Frequency Rate below 4.4% by 2020.
  • Reduce our absence rate by 5% year-on-year.
  • Train all managers in mental health awareness by 2023.

Diversity and inclusion

I pledge that Serco will aim to:

  • Increase female representation amongst senior leaders to 35% by 2023.
  • Grow our diversity networks and colleague communities to more than 5,000 members by 2021.

Engagement and experience

I pledge that Serco will aim to:

  • Increase our colleague engagement rates above a global benchmark level of 72 by 2023.
  • Reduce our gender pay gap to below 10% by 2022.
  • Increase our labour retention rate by 10% year-on-year.

  • Expand our graduate programme to all regions in 2020.
  • Achieve an internal promotion rate of 65% for all manager and leader roles by 2023.
