Serco Europe to lead the Horizon 2020 research project CALLISTO

Serco Italy will coordinate the H2020 project CALLISTO. The project is funded by the EU Commission’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and will be delivered by a consortium led by Serco.

This exciting project aims to develop dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions that add value to the large volumes of satellite data coming to Earth from the Copernicus Sentinel space programme.

Earth observation data from Serco’s ONDA DIAS platform will be used together with data from other sources and will be provided fro users through interactive interfaces. A series of pilot cases will be developed, such as the monitoring of the EU Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) obligations, water quality assessment, detection of changes to land borders in Europe, and the development of environment monitoring tools for journalists.

The three-year CALLISTO project not only represents an opportunity for Serco to strengthen strategic collaborations with other key organisations, but is also expected to have a concrete impact on Serco’s business by attracting new users and new market opportunities.
