UAE national Deputy Support Services Manager Fatima Alkatheeri shares a glimpse of her day-to-day life at Serco and talks about why Serco is a great place for nationals to excel in their careers.
As an Emirati woman, what is the focus of your current role and what drives your purpose in the workplace?
The focus of my current role as Deputy Support Services Manager is to create a positive impact and leave a good impression of Serco in the contract that I work in. I can do this by delivering a high standard of customer service to our client’s employees, visitors and the public.
The workplace environment has the biggest impact on how I motivate myself and I am lucky to have supportive colleagues and a team who encourages me to give my best at work to achieve my purpose, which is in-line with Serco’s purpose and goals.
Could you share with us a glimpse of your day's work from 8am to 5pm? How do you balance your responsibilities and make an impact in your field?
My day will typically start with speaking to the reception team the moment I arrived in the building. Then I will pass by the security office to ensure I am updated of the events in the building and expectations during the day that will require support from my team since I am handling the reception, hospitality, wellness and employee/FM helpdesk.
Once I am at my desk, I will look into my diary for the day’s meetings/commitments. I usually have a to do list, however the work I do can be spontaneous and require the team’s urgent attention.
I always make sure to end my day with a smile and a feeling of accomplishment.
