Be the one to make a difference every day
Here at Serco, our Graduate Programme offers you an amazing launchpad for a fast-track management career within a global FTSE 250 company – as well as a unique opportunity to be directly involved in delivering better public services.
Starting on the frontline of our business, you’ll spend the first 24 months working within a number of our contracts, giving you an insight into our sectors as you build a range of operational, commercial and people skills. From day one you will be focussing on developing your capability to lead talented teams, build customer relationships, solve complex problems and communicate effectively. You’ll also receive a wide range of training, including courses in Project Management, Process Improvement, People Management and Change Management.
With the support of your colleagues and senior managers, you’ll be given the autonomy and tools to innovate as you make a personal impact. And you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you are making an important personal contribution to delivering services that impact people’s lives.
What we are looking for
It’s our goal to be the best managed business within the sector, and as our one of Graduates you’ll be bringing your intellect, commercial mind-set, passion and ideas to help us achieve that.
With a business and a workforce as diverse as ours we’re not looking for a specific degree discipline, what’s more important is that you can bring your own personal experience to bear in helping us redesign and improve public services for the benefit of everyone. To be a future leader at Serco you must also have the following qualities:
- A genuine interest in delivering essential public services
- A customer centric service ethos and a commercial mind-set
- An ability to show resilience and empathy in the face of adversity
- An entrepreneurial spirit and the will to make a difference
- The desire to learn, the tenacity to make things happen and the ambition to dictate your own progress, through hard work and self-development
Meaningful and vital work
The services we provide are often of critical importance to the communities and nations that we serve. So not only will you be doing interesting work that matters you’ll also be engaged in the real and pressing challenges of delivering those services.
The Covid pandemic has shown the vital role our people have not just day to day but in times of crisis. Something that has been recognised by many of our clients. Our graduates have been heavily involved at this critical time.
A world of opportunity
As a big company you’ll find your next challenge will always be around the corner - or it could be further afield in Europe, Asia Pacific or the Americas. We’re also big on development. We keep our graduate cohort small so that you get the time, attention and development that your skills deserve – there is no ‘churn and burn’ here
Every company claims to have great people – and we’re no different! – but what unites us as a business is our shared values and a genuine interest in delivering public services. You’ll have early and ongoing exposure to our senior team and to experienced and caring colleagues.
