Serco Awarded $88m Logistics Support Contract with U.S. Navy
Date: 17 Sep 2010
Serco announced today that the Company has received a new single award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract with the U.S. Navy's Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk (FISCN). The Company will perform hazardous material (HAZMAT) management services and provide consolidated HAZMAT reutilization and inventory management program support to the FISCN Hazardous Material Program Office. The contract has a one-year base period with four one-year option periods and is valued at approximately $88m, if all option years are exercised.
Serco will provide logistical support for the acquisition and management of HAZMAT products and chemicals for the U.S. Navy Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic (CNRMA). The Company will also provide Third Party Logistics (3PL) support for cost effective procurement and sales of HAZMAT to CNRMA customers. Serco's work on this contract will utilize an integrated HAZMAT supply chain to minimize and stabilize HAZMAT costs while ensuring maximum availability.
Serco will support six geographically dispersed installations throughout CNRMA. Over the past year, Serco has been awarded two additional Navy HAZMAT contracts to support the Commander, Fleet and Industrial Supply Centers, and the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center San Diego. This win expands the Company's HAZMAT services across the country to the east coast. Serco has been providing HAZMAT management services to the Navy since 2002.
"We are excited to expand our work in this area for the U.S. Navy," said Ed Casey, Serco North America's Chairman and CEO. "We provide our Navy customers with high-quality, cost effective, management solutions that optimize the availability of required hazardous materials, reduce the HAZMAT waste stream, and support their initiatives to achieve warfighter mission readiness."
