Serco selected for North East Lincolnshire school improvement partnership
Date: 29 Jul 2011
Serco has been chosen by North East Lincolnshire Council as its preferred strategic partner for the provision of school improvement and the strategic management of special educational needs (SEN) and inclusion services.
Under the five year contract, valued at £2 million per year, Serco will provide support and challenge to schools and other educational settings, including early years, to raise pupils' attainment and achievement.
In particular the partnership will provide a more efficient and effective way of delivering school improvement services and introduce new and more effective ways of working that create strong and sustainable partnerships between and amongst schools.
Joanne Hewson, acting executive director for children and family services at North East Lincolnshire Council said: "This is fantastic news for North East Lincolnshire. We are delighted to be working with Serco, to provide our school improvement support and the strategic management of our special educational needs and inclusion services. Serco has an excellent track record of working with local authorities in supporting schools and pupils and meeting the needs of their communities."
Elaine Simpson, global director for children's services, Serco said: "We are thrilled to have been appointed by North East Lincolnshire to work with them to deliver school improvement services and will be seeking to work very much in partnership with schools to continue improving educational achievements. Having worked closely with more than 500 schools over the past ten years we recognise the importance of driving improvements through supporting teaching professionals. Bringing this partnership approach together with our skills and experience will help ensure that children and young people of North East Lincolnshire get the best opportunities to achieve their full potential."
