Aldeburgh Hospital meets all quality & safety standards

A Suffolk Community Healthcare hospital is meeting all essential quality and safety standards, according to a health watchdog.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) report commended Aldeburgh Community Hospital for the quality of service it provides, following an unannounced routine visit last month.
The hospital, which is run by Serco via Suffolk Community Healthcare, was evaluated against seven criteria and met every one. They are: consent to care and treatment; care and welfare of people who use services; cleanliness and infection control; supporting workers; assessing and monitoring the quality of service provision; complaints; and records.
Dr Abigail Tierney, chief executive of Suffolk Community Healthcare, which employs 1,000 staff across the county, said: "I am so pleased the CQC report recognises the quality of care provided by our brilliant staff.
"I want to thank them all for maintaining the very highest of standards and keeping our patients well and happy, to such an extent that everyone we surveyed last month said they would recommend Aldeburgh Community Hospital to their family and friends."
The commission looked at the personal care and treatment records of people using the hospital's 20-bed rehabilitation ward and observed how people were being cared for.
The report said: "People told us they were generally satisfied with the treatment and care that they received. One person told us, 'All the staff are very kind. I have no complaints.' Another told us, 'Staff are marvellous. They check on you all the time and [are] always cheerful.'
"People we spoke with told us they felt involved and consulted in the delivery of their care and treatment ... One person told us, 'The staff are marvellous. They always ask me if I want to wash and what I want to eat and if I don't like the food they make nice sandwiches. They treat you like a person.' "
The CQC regulates all care across the country, including hospitals, hospices and care homes.
